What fish is this?
Hello, this little tugger was caught at Wyaralong Dam on worm. I believe it is a native but am unsure exactly what fish it is. I caught several of them each and every one was small and stayed relatively close to the bank. I know the dam has recently adopted some stocking practices. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this fish?
Carp caught at Wyaralong Dam
Good evening readers, These European Carp were caught in Wyaralong Dam, South East Queensland last weekend. It was the first time I had ever been to this newly commissioned dam. These fish are considered extremely noxious because of their ability to cause erosion to riverbanks. These five were all caught on corn kernels over only a couple of hours. I found it best to only use a small hook and no sinker. Each fish had an impressive initial run but all would lose this tenacity after a few minutes of fighting. Setting an appropriate drag is imperative to catching each of these introduced pests. I will surely be paying this dam a visit in the near future.
